Week 8 Predictions

My predictions are creeping closer and closer to the point of irrelevance.  I need a big week almost as badly as Hans Backe does.  At least my livelihood does not depend on this.  A week at 3-5 has left my season standings at 32 and 28.  Just barely over .500, and it could all come crashing down after this week.

Without further adieu, here are my picks (with minor amounts of analysis) for this weeks matchers

FC Dallas v RSL
This appears to be one of the more interesting games of the week.  RSL has faltered a bit lately when facing strong competition.  On the other side of the coin, FCD seems to have shaken off some of their early season laziness.  Will Brek and the boys be able to protect their home field and hand RSL their third straight loss.  I don't think Kreis allows this to happen.  RSL will take this on in an impressive road win.
FCD 1 - RSL 2

Montreal - Portland
Olympic Stadium will be the host as two of MLS newest teams face off.  Portland is coming off their biggest win of their short history (and one of the biggest upsets of the MLS campaign thus far).  Montreal has recently learned to taste success.  This game will be a chance to continue in that direction.  I think Boyd will find the net again and the timbers will find a way for a second straight win.
Mtl 0 - Port 1

NYRB - New England
The Red Bulls will be facing a tough task with the amount of injuries and suspensions they are trying to overcome; Keel, Tainio, Marquez, Conde, Lindpere (and almost as bad, Holgerson can play).  Their depth will truly be challenged.  The offense can only do things if the team can manage to win the ball behind them.  The Rev are improving every week, but have some injury concerns of their own. This game does not have the ingredients for a beautiful soccer game.
NYRB 1 - New Eng 1

Phil - San Jose
The Earthquakes have been the surprise package out west and are leading the conference.  Philly is looking for their third straight win.  This will be a tough task considering the suspensions they will be dealing with.  It will be too much for the Union to overcome and Wondolowski will score to give the Eathquakes the road win.
Phil 0 - SJ 1

DCU - Hou
Ben Olsen has United clicking on all cylinders.  They have 11 points in their last 5 games.  Houston is trying to keep United within striking range, but i think United's offense continues to impress and they come out ahead over the Dynamo.
DCU 3 - Hou 1

Columbus - Vancouver
Crew Stadiums welcomes the Whitecaps.  Both teams have had trouble finding the nets this season with only six goals a piece.  The home crowd will be enough to lead the Crew to three points.
Crew 1 - Van 0

Chicago - Seattle
The Fire are looking to make some noise with the addition of Rolfe.  Once he settles in, he makes the offense immediately more formidable, but it may be too soon for him to make a difference.  The Sounders are playing away from home for only the second time this season.  Fucito will be a welcome addition to their offense and will give them an immediate boost.
Chi 0 - Seattle 2

RSL - Toronto
The struggling TFC head to Rio Tinto to face Real.  It should be an easy three points (and a six point week) for RSL.
RSL 3 - TFC 1

Colorado - Chivas
After looking impressive early in the season, the Rapids are on a three game slide.  Chivas is taking to the road again, where they have yet to lose.  Juan Pablo is starting to look dangerous again for Chivas.  If he can become a consistent threat, Chivas can become a dangerous team
Colo 1 - Chivas 1

LA Galaxy - FCD
Arena seems to have figured things out in LA.  This game will be a test to see if things continue to head in the right direction.  Psycho Stu is monitoring Beckham, so look for a big game from him.  FCD will not make things easy, but the Galaxy will win
LAG 1 - FCD 0

Well, there you have it.  Call your bookie, I am due for a big week.
