I will be trying to recover from my first losing week in the predictions... Week 6 was a rough one. I had 4 correct and 5 incorrect leaving me with a season total of 29 and 23 or 56% correct... kinda sad. that is almost statistically equivalent to someone who has never watched a soccer game.
To make matters worse, i forgot that there were Wednesday games, and i definitely would have picked Impact 1 - DCU 1... but, since i missed that opportunity, here is the rest of what i see for week 7.
Vancouver - KC
As my predictions have shown, i feel like Vancouver has the ingredients of a winning team and their home crowd tends to push things in the right direction. But at this point, how can anyone pick against the Sporting. THere wins are not often pretty, but their defense is tight and there offense gets done what it needs to. I see no reason to pick against them
Vancouver 0 - KC 1
Toronto - Chicago
I am not convinced that Toronto as bad as 0-5 looks. I don't think they are good, but 0-5 is dramatic! Chicago will feel bolstered by the recent acquisition of Rolfe. However, i think that going on the road with a team that is in flux will lead to difficulties. Toronto gets one in the win column...
Toronto 1 - Chicago 0
Colorado - LA
I think this matchup is one of the more interesting of the week. The stars for the Galaxy started to line up last weekend with Beckham scoring a screamer. Colorado has been tough at home this season and will make the game challenging, but the Galaxy will come home with a road win.
Colorado 0 - LA 1
Vancouver - FC Dallas
Vancouver is playing their second match of Week 7 and will be testing their depth in the back. Brek Shea started to come to life last weekend scoring his first goal (and a game winner in the dying stages) against the Impact. Shea and Perez will be a handful again, but Vancouver will not lose their second straight at home.
Van 1 - FCD 1
Chivas - Philly
The bizarre season for the Goats has lasted for six games; three wins on the road and three losses at home. I like it to continue, not only because it makes an interesting story, but also because Novak seems to have things starting to turn around in Philly.
Chiv 0 - Philly 2
Portland - SKC
I so badly want the Tinbers to be good... their fans deserve it. After a win in their home opener, the rest of the season has been forgettable. They have not shown the fortitude to hang on to leads. SKC has done whatever needed every week to get the win. Their second road game this week will be a tall task. I think that the Timbers, backed by their fans, will be the first team to take points from Sporting.
Por 0 - SKC 0
San Jose - RSL
RSL is coming off a tough loss at LiveStrong Park. San Jose a tough draw at RBA which included the loss of Shea Salinas at the hands of Rafa. This should be a very tough match. It is (an unexpected) match to claim top spot in the tough Western Conference. The loss of Salinas will create enough confusion for San Jose for RSL to sneak out with a point.
San Jose 1 - RSL 1
DCU - Red Bulls
The Red Bulls make their trip to hated rival DC United. They are without the services of Tainio and Conde. Fan favorite Lindpere seems to have fallen out of favor and Rafa is simply Rafa. However, they still have the two most prolific strikers in MLS. DCU has a similar make up of dynamic attackers and porous defense. DeRo and Co. are starting to come together and find ways to score goals. This has the makings of a high scoring affair. This game will swing on the availability (form) of Rafa. Without knowing his status, i say draw
DCU 3 - NYRB 3
What are your thoughts on the weekends matches.
