MLS Predictions

Well, another average week.  Five out of nine games were predicted correctly last week.
This week, after a long chat on kik, the whole "staff" of FC Woof wanted to make predictions.  Let's see how everyone does.

A Bunch of Guys will feature in this post... and hopefully, everyone else will throw their predictions in the comments.

Phil - Colum.
I still have faith that the young kids at PPL Park will get their act together.  Pair that with the defensive questions that the Crew must be asking of themselves after last weeks match and it looks like a potential week for Philly to get win number 1.
Phil 2 - C-bus 1

New Eng - DCU
New England and DC have both seen their fortunes turn since very slow starts making this week's clash a little more intriguing than i thought it would be.  I think that New England, as the home team, will get a result.
New Eng 1 - DCU 0

Sea - Colo
Seattle has hit an early speed bump with a series of subpar results.  Colorado has struggled earning only three points in their past three games.  Again, i like the home team for the result.
Sea 2 - Colo 0

TFC - Chivas
TFC, when not playing in the CONCACAF Champions league, seem to be a quickly sinking ship.  Chivas has taken two wins in their last three games.  Oddly, they have lost all their home games and won every road trip.  This trend should continue.
TFC 0 - Chivas 2

NYRB - San Jose
The Red Bulls are in the middle of a run of offensive form that is hard not to be impressed with.  Cooper and Henry are seemingly scoring at will.  The defense got bad news in the injury woes of Conde.  San Jose has had a stingy defense and won three straight games, but this should be a true test.
NYRB 3 - San Jose 1

FCD - Mtl
FCD is looking for their first back to back wins of the season.  Montreal, the first in their history.  FCD is trying hard to get a little consistency and a visit from Montreal may be just what the doctor ordered.
FCD 2 - MTL 0

SKC - RSL
The game of the week, perhaps the season thus far.  This match looks like an early preview of two of the best teams the league has to offer.  Sporting KC has an attack that is dynamic and playing well together.  RSL has a dominating midfield and some of the most opportunistic forwards in the league.  Don't miss this game.  RSL has shown the ability and will to find a way to win, and i think this game will be the continuation of this trend.
SKC 1 - RSL 2

LA - Por
LA has been struggling and looked poor all season long.  The defense has many holes, the midfield has not been able to establish any possession, and the attack, in spite of the money, has been toothless.Portland has been equally inept, but has less talent.  Bruce will try to rally the troops to a result, but there is nothing indicating that things are ready to turn around.  Portland's John Spencer will steal a point from the formerly formidable HDC.
LA  1 - Por 1

Chi - Hou
Chicago is trying to establish itself with a signature win over one of the leagues tougher teams with an early season win over Houston.  The Dynamo is trying not to drop too many points while waiting for their stadium to open this summer.  With three weeks to prepare (Dynamo have not played since March 23) Kinnear will have a defensive game plan that will shut Chicago down.
Chi 0 - Hou 2

My season totals, so far, are not overwhelmingly impressive, but i am happy to be over 50%
25 correct
18 incorrect
58% correct

  1. Phili v C'bus
I am not sure NBC could have picked a less intriguing game for the national telecast. Two teams that can't score goals and have almost zero start power. C'bus' defense is just what the Union needs. I pick phili 2-1.

    NE v DC
I don't think NE has the depth to make up for the lack of Shalrie and Feilhaber, although Nguyen and Rowe have looked solid. DeRo will run the show... I pick DC 2-0.

    Sea v Colo
Time for Montero and Seattle to get back on track vs a mediocre Rapids team. The fans will give Brian Mullan a rotten reception and the sounders will run out 3-1 winners. Can't keep Omar Cummings off the board

    TFC v Chivas
The only game of the wknd to rival C'bus v Phili for most boring match up possible. I actually pick TFC only because they are home and I can't imagine Chivas winning again on the road. 2-0

    NYRB v SJ
Two teams that are playing decent soccer and getting goals. I don't see the RB defense keeping SJ off the board, I'm going 2-2.

    FCD v Mon
I actually like Montreal in this game. They have played decent soccer so far but get routinely punished for their mistakes. Brek Shea continues to sleep walk through this game and Mon gets a 1-0 win.

    SKC v RSL
Great early season match up between what appears to be the class of the league. KC is a tough place to play but RSL seems to give not a shit about opposing crowds. I see this ending 1-1.

    LA v Por
LA has to figure things out sooner or later but I don't think it happens this wknd. John Spencer will shout at his team until they score goals. Kris Boyd wins it in the air for Portland, 2-1

    Chi v Hou
Dom Oduro punishes his old team and Houston looks like a team that hasn't played in 3 weeks. I just don't see the Dynamo getting many goals with Will Bruin as their go-to guy. Fire wins 2-0
